Connotation
Overall, I feel that most of my projects carried the theme I was trying to portray throughout all aspects of the image. The fonts in the Word Portraits I really felt reflected the word I wrote. The color that I added emphasized those words. The Color Echo project I liked the font I chose for the Hawaiian Luau. It felt like it fit the Hawaiian, flowing, relaxed feel I was going for.
For the Legibility and Text Safe Areas project I feel that the text might have been able to be changed a bit to reflect the fun, summer feel I was going for. This was one project I had a hard time with.
I think it would be interesting to ask others of their opinions of my work. It would be helpful to know if the connotations I was trying to get across really came across. After a while of looking at your own work you see what you want to see.
Attributes
I am pleased with the overall weight, structure, color and presentation style of my elements. I think that my icon is a good example of all of these. The lines are also, I think, an appropriate thickness. The Legibility and Text Safe example is probably my poorest example of background and typographic elements agreeing. I think that I could have done a better example of text safe areas. Once again, I feel my icon is a great example of the color scheme fitting well with most other larger layouts. It could also be used in a logo or other layout and working well. My Fonts and Images example is also a good example of these attributes.
I feel that all of my projects have a good text size for the intended use. The Word Portraits are wonderful examples of how the text connects with the theme. Placement
I think that my Emotional Design is a wonderful example of something that is a starring role in a layout. The Hue, Saturation and Value example would be great supporting role in a layout. Most of those examples could be great backgrounds in another layout. The icon would be a good starring role as well and I think could be placed as a center piece. I think that the Emotional Design example does a good job of the text and elements aligning with other parts of the example. The text boxes are aligned well with the pages. In this particular example I don't feel that the parts of the layout should be grouped differently. It's possible that some of the examples could be rotated, cropped or changed slightly when added to other components and layouts.
